Sharing good practice in education across Europe

Thematic Networking

Thematic Networking

We have established four groups of people that are passionate and knowledgeable about subject areas important to our programmes. They are called 'Thematic Networking Groups' (TNG's).

Thematic Networking Groups

The groups are a forum for UK organisations to discuss policy developments, share information and exchange best practice around a common subject of expertise.

They provide opportunities for policy makers and experts in all parts of Education to benefit from the lessons learned through the Leonardo, Grundtvig and Transversal programmes.

Group 1: Transparency of qualifications and skills, including recognition of informal and non-formal learning
Group 2: Continuous training of learning professionals
Group 3: Meeting training and skills needs
Group 4: Working with under represented groups

The four groups were established in early 2008. The group themes have been chosen to achieve a balance between UK national policy and the wider work being done at a European level.

Who is involved?

  • People involved in projects funded under the Leonardo, Grundtvig and Transversal programmes.
  • People who influence or make policy (usually government officials).
  • Social partners (for e.g. trade unions, employer organisations, voluntary groups)
  • Experts in the four thematic areas, such as universities and research centres.

How to get involved

Each group has around twenty ‘active’ members from a variety of organisations to ensure a wide range of expertise. Groups meet twice a year and members promote the programme and its outcomes through their professional networks. We are sorry, but 'active' membership is currently closed.

You can still get involved as a 'virtual' group member. You will receive bi-monthly up-dates on the work in the groups and have access to the results of discussions from the TNG conferences.

To get involved, please email the group you are interested in:
